C5 uncovers Secret History of World War II

The Secret History of World War II is Woodcut’s first Channel 5 commission

UK broadcaster Channel 5 has commissioned a six-part docuseries titled The Secret History of World War II from UK-based factual indie Woodcut Media.

The 6×60’ series uses first-hand accounts, recreations and expert interviews to examine key events of the war, including the Dunkirk evacuation; Exercise Tiger, the disastrous practice run for D-Day that left almost 700 US soldiers dead; and the heroics of US sailor Dorie Miller, the first African American to receive the Navy Cross for his bravery at Pearl Harbor.

The docuseries, Woodcut’s first Channel 5 commission, is exec produced by Woodcut’s Kate Beal and Adam Jacobs, with Nick Mavroidakis serving as series producer.

French broadcaster Histoire TV has already secured a pre-sale deal for the title, with Red Arrow Studios International handling distribution.
