C5 meets the Super Scroungers

The UK’s Channel 5 has commissioned a three-part documentary series on British families who live lives of luxury while claiming state benefits.

Super Scroungers (3×60′) is one of the first series to come from C5’s fledgling in-house production arm that launched a year ago and has been commissioned by the channel’s new director of programmes Ben Frow. No airdate has yet been set.

Frow joined the channel in November, replacing Jeff Ford, who then took Frow’s old job as group director of content at TV3 in Ireland. C5 is owned by Richard Desmond’s Northern & Shell.
