C5 looks into love and death

Channel 5 in the UK has commissioned a number of new shows, including two that look into the subject of death.

The commercial broadcaster has ordered seven new programmes including Autopsy: The Last Hours of… and Body Donors.

In Autopsy: The Last Hours of… (3×60’), a forensic pathologist will perform hypothetical autopsies on deceased celebrities Michael Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith and Whitney Houston.

The 3×60’ series, produced by ITV Studios’ Potato, was ordered by C5 factual commissioner Guy Davies and will air in early 2014.

Body Donors shows what happens when people die and their bodies are donated to science. The series was ordered by Simon Raikes, the channel’s factual commissioner.

Meanwhile, C5 has unveiled a romance strand featuring several one-off documentaries.

These include Baby Face Brides, produced by Crackit Productions and GroupM Entertainment (GME); Holiday Love Rats, from Nine Lives Media and GME; She’s 78, He’s 39: Age Gap Love, from Nine Lives Media; and Celebrity Wedding Planner, from Renegade Pictures and GME. The shows were commissioned by Davies and Emma Westcott.

Lion TV’s Henry And Anne: The Lovers Who Changed History (2×60’) completes the line-up.
