UK broadcaster Channel 5 has ordered a number of factual crime shows for its 5Star network from UK prodco Spun Gold TV.

Killed on Camera (1×60’) follows a family’s investigation into how a snuff movie fantasist, known to the authorities for predatory sexual behaviour, was able to murder their 17-year-old daughter.

Stabbed in the Back (1×60’) looks at the stabbing of a young man in the UK and his four friends who deny involvement. The documentary claims to reveal who the perpetrator was.

Murdered By My Girlfriend (1×60’) investigates instances in the UK where women have been convicted of murder or manslaughter of their partners, while Murdered By My Stalker (1×60’) studies the problem of stalking in the UK. It examines the murder of Alice Ruggles, whose boyfriend became obsessed with her after she ended their relationship.

Jared Wright series produces the shows, which are exec produced by Bridget Boseley. They were commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell, channel manager for 5Star.

Daniela Neumann, Spun Gold’s MD, said the firm was pleased to be continuing its relationship with Channel 5.

“There’s a huge demand for crime and investigation programming in the UK and worldwide, and it’s a genre we are focused on growing as we build Spun Gold’s programming slate,” she added.

The commissions follow the announcement in June that C5 and Spun Gold are collaborating on How to Get a Good Sleep, a coproduction with Motion Content Group.
