C5 books Muppets, Gaga special

Channel 5 has struck a deal with Disney to bring Lady Gaga & The Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular to UK viewers this Christmas.

The 90-minute special, which airs this week on ABC in the US as part of its Thanksgiving schedule, sees music superstar Lady Gaga perform songs from her new album alongside Muppet regulars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and friends.

Legendary British musician Sir Elton John and US actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kristen Bell will also make appearances on the show.

US-based Sunset Lane Entertainment is producing the special in association with ABC’s Lincoln Square Productions, with Salli Frattini as exec producer and Gregg Gelfand as director.

The programme will also feature a teaser from the upcoming Disney movie Muppets Most Wanted, which features Lady Gaga in a cameo performance. The film hits cinemas on March 28, 2014.
