C4, Naked Entertainment scale Himalayas

Channel 4 in the UK has commissioned a three-part social-experiment show from Simon Andreae’s Naked Entertainment that places British students in an Indian boarding school.

Himalaya High (working title) aims to test studies suggesting that while white working-class boys are falling behind their classmates in GCSE results, their performance improves when they are taught in multicultural classrooms.

The 3×60’ series will follow five academically struggling British boys as they spend five months at the school. It was commissioned by C4 factual entertainment head Kelly Webb-Lamb and factual entertainment commissioning editor Sarah Lazenby.

Andreae set up Naked Entertainment in 2015 with backing from FremantleMedia. He had previously been executive VP of alternative entertainment at Fox in the US and was the VP of development and production at Discovery Channel, which developed hit format Naked & Afraid. He will executive produce Himalaya High alongside Tom O’Brien.

C4 is currently undergoing a period of upheaval, with former Shine CEO Alex Mahon recently named as the replacement for outgoing C4 CEO David Abraham, and chief creative officer Jay Hunt also announcing her departure.
