C4 loses weight with Diversity star

Jordan Banjo and Dr Sara Kayat in Lose Weight Like Me

Commercially funded UK pubcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a weight loss format from Gobstopper TV-owned UK prodco Flying Saucer.

Fronted by Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo and Dr Sara Kayat, Lose Weight Like Me is the first C4 commission for Flying Saucer, which launched last month. The Manchester-based prodco’s first commission was 4×60’ series Cats & Dogs for 5Star.

Each episode of Lose Weight Like Me will introduce two people who want to make dramatic lifestyle changes to four ‘health heroes’ – members of the public who have done just that, each losing up to 200lbs on safe and sustainable weight loss plans combining a mixture of diet and exercise. Currently in production, the pilot is set to air in 2021.

The show is executive produced by Ross McCarthy, Kieran McCarthy and Mandy Thomson and was commissioned by Sean Doyle, deputy head of features and formats at C4.

In related news, C4 has ordered Selling Britain’s Most Expensive Homes (working title), a 1×60′ documentary exec produced by Jannine Waddell and Sophie Wurzer-Williams, produced by Lee Salisbury and directed by Colin Rothbart.

The show offers insight into Britain’s most expensive homes and is set to air at Christmas. Belfast-based indie Waddell Media has secured exclusive access to property specialist UK Sotheby’s International Realty to make the doc.
