C4 explores gender transitioning

Channel 4 in the UK has commissioned a four-part series that will follow the journey of a group of people as they transition from one gender to another.

Trans Mission (working title) will be filmed across two years by Banijay Group-owned prodco RDF Television (Secret Life of 4 Year Olds, Secret Millionaire).

Channel 4 said the series will be a television first as it documents the subjects’ experiences from the earliest stages of their transition to after its completion, and will offer an intimate perspective on all aspects of their changing lives.

“To be able to give a small section of Britain’s transgender community the opportunity to share their personal experiences over such a long filming period is truly unique,” said Alex Menzies, deputy head of features at Channel 4.
