C4 books check-up with doctors

Channel 4 in the UK has commissioned a documentary series focusing on young doctors working in a local hospital at a critical time for the National Health Service.

Filmed over four months in a general hospital in Northampton, four-part series Confessions of a Junior Doctor follows the lives of young doctors trying to cope with intense pressure on the ward.

The show, produced by Twofour, comes at a time when the UK’s health service is under serious strain from funding cuts and is having to deal with record patient numbers.

“Channel 4 documentaries have a proud tradition of revealing intimate insights into modern life and major social institutions from hospital wards to school classrooms,” said Amy Flanagan, commissioning editor for Channel 4.
