C4 bakes with Hollywood again

Paul Hollywood alongside Mary Berry in the BBC’s Bake Off

The UK’s Channel 4 is expanding its work with Great British Bake Off producer Love Productions by ordering another baking show to be presented by one of the competition format’s hosts.

Paul Hollywood will front A Baker’s Life (working title) for C4, giving viewers insight into his family baking heritage and the chefs who inspired him.

The 5×60’ series was commissioned by head of factual entertainment Kelly Webb-Lamb and commissioning editor Sarah Lazenby. It will be made by Love Productions with executive producers Richard McKerrow and Kieran Smith.

The commission comes ahead of the premiere of the first season of Great British Bake Off to air on C4 following its move from the BBC, which was announced in September last year.

The show’s original hosts, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, as well as judge Mary Berry, elected not to change channels with the format, with a new line-up of presenters subsequently having been put together for the C4 version. Hollywood, however, did elect to stay with the format and will remain as a judge.
