C21FM to launch today

C21Media is set to launch C21FM, a 24/7 internet radio station designed to bring the global content community together with a mix of music, news and interviews that provide perspective on how the business is coping with the Covid-19 pandemic.

C21FM goes live today at 13.00 BST, 14.00 CET, 05.00 PST and 08.00 EST, with a mixture of music and talk.

C21’s editor-in-chief & managing director David Jenkinson, who will host the launch show, said: “C21FM is designed to bring the business together at this difficult time, providing perspective from around the world on how people are coping. C21FM will be a content community radio station that provides context for the international entertainment industry, together with some great music to lighten the mood.”

Patrick Walker, founder of upcoming next-generation learning app Uptime and former director of media partnerships across EMEA for Facebook, shares his experience of being one of the first people in the UK to be diagnosed with Covid-19. As well as discussing surviving the virus and providing tips on managing an effective recovery, he offers his thoughts on how social media is coming of age in the current crisis.

ITV Studios MD of global distribution Ruth Berry tells C21FM how the company is focusing on finished-tape sales to meet the demands of channels worldwide, which are facing a deficit of new programming as production is put on ice around the globe.

 

Ben Silverman, chairman and co-CEO of Propagate Content in the US and former co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, discusses how the US company is coping with the shutdown of its global production slate and also shares his C21FM Lockdown Playlist, revealing the songs that are keeping him and his family sane in isolation.

Drive’s Lilla Hurst outlines the challenges programmers are facing as the business adjusts to a new normal and also points to the new digital initiatives that are providing fresh opportunities.
