C21 confirms new format awards agenda

C21Media has confirmed a revamped International Format Awards will take place on Sunday April 12, 2015 during Mipformats in Cannes, and will include a broad range of organising partners.

New-Format-Awards-logoMaking the announcement, David Jenkinson, editor-in-chief and MD of C21Media, said: “We will host a gala dinner during Mipformats to celebrate the best in formats. We are in discussions with a number of associations and companies to ensure the new awards represent the broadest cross-section of industry partners. More news on this will be announced shortly.”

The first confirmed partner in The International Format Awards is The Entertainment Masterclass, which will create a series of awards-related content through its annual programme.

The first collaborative initiative will be EMC’s upcoming masterclass titled Negotiating Deals at the University of Cambridge from November 15 to 18, 2014.

The curriculum focuses on the art and science of crafting and closing deals in the entertainment business, from commercial strategy to the psychology of negotiation.

The programme will mix lectures and mock negotiations to provide hands-on tactical advice on resolving disputes, especially when deals and decisions cross industry and cultural boundaries.

The last day of the masterclass will coincide with C21’s Future Media when the class will join the event at Bafta in London.

The EMC will work with C21 to develop year-round content that is directly linked to the format awards categories, generating a rich seam of information that will add value across the initiative.

C21 confirmed the awards will be voted for by an international panel of format commissioners and buyers, ensuring the value of entering and the authenticity of the vote.

Further details on entry will be available shortly.
