C21 backs WriterSlam diversity initiative

WriterSlam focuses on tangible outcomes for writers from all backgrounds

C21 is to sponsor this year’s WriterSlam UK competition, organised by TriForce Creative Network and designed to help TV prodcos and broadcasters access new and established writers from diverse backgrounds, and will host the final during Content London in November.

WriterSlam provides routes of access to writers from all backgrounds, across the UK, solving many of the obstacles that diverse or emerging talent face. Already the outcomes have been ground-breaking, with people being taken from ‘bedroom to broadcast.’

Open to all and with a focus on tangible outcomes (direct commissions, development, mentoring with execs) the competition receives thousands of entries, from a plethora of young talent and an incredibly broad spread across ethnicity, gender and class.

Full details about WriterSlam and information on how to enter can be found by CLICKING HERE.

The final of the event will take place on the evening of November 27 during Content London, with the winner receiving a development option through C21’s WritersRoom programme. All finalists will also come to Content London to meet and network with the global drama business.

Fraser Ayres, CEO of TriForce Creative Network, said: “We’re enormously pleased to be working with C21 on WriterSlam. With the support of Content London and the C21 WritersRoom, we’re able to offer the winning writer and the finalists a fantastic opportunity to benefit from an unrivalled gathering of international drama execs in one place, as well as a tangible outcome of a paid option on the winning script. Combining this with our hugely diverse and inclusive network of emerging talent, we’re excited to see some amazing scripts from diverse voices coming through.”
