Bunim/Murray takes on Weapons Master

Unified Weapons Master features martial artists who specialise in weapons

US prodco Bunim/Murray Productions has teamed with an Australian company specialising in wearable combat technology to produce a martial arts competition series.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians producer has joined forces with Chiron Global, founder of combat sport Unified Weapons Master (UWM), to develop a series described as a high-tech martial arts experience doc-competition.

Unified Weapons Master: Calling All Contenders will draw on Bunim/Murray’s production expertise and UWM technology to enable the world’s best weapons martial artists to compete in full-contact combat in the style of a live video game.

Wearable sensor technology will measure the force and location of strikes to the body, with a digital scoring system determining the winner of each bout.

Bunim/Murray CEO Gil Goldschein said: “We believe UWM has massive international appeal to a diverse audience because it combines so many exciting elements that are really on-trend at the moment. It combines weapons martial arts combat and ancient weaponry with leading-edge technology and live video gaming features.”

The concept will be pitched to international broadcasters by Bunim/Murray.
