Bullish Ten unveils 2014 slate

Australian broadcaster Network Ten has revealed its 2014 slate as it attempts to rebound from heavy annual losses announced last month.

Ten’s annual results showed it had lost nearly A$300m (US$282m), but CEO Hamish McLennan said its new schedule represented the channel’s “strongest start for many years.”

Reality show So You Think You Can Dance Australia will return, along with local drama duo Secrets & Lies, and Party Tricks, as well as an extended run of popular quizshow Have You Been Paying Attention?.

The slate will also include a new season of MasterChef Australia, to be fronted by chef and TV presenter Kylie Kwong, along with a second season of The Bachelor Australia.

Other offerings include an online-exclusive drama called Lost With The Boys, which will be available via Tenplay, the network’s VoD service, which was revamped recently.

“The new line-up clearly demonstrates Ten’s focus on event TV and people aged 25-54 – the biggest and most important age group in television – and represents our strongest start for many years,” McLennan said.
