Buchanan, Eleven link up for diverse drama

Darkly comic Channel 4/Netflix drama The End of the F***ing World

The UK prodco behind Netflix series Sex Education has signed a first-look deal with the exec producer of the streamer’s coproduction with Channel 4, The End of the F***ing World.

Dominic Buchanan has partnered with Eleven, which also produced The Enfield Haunting, Gap Year, Glue and Cast offs.

Buchanan formed Dominic Buchanan Productions TV in 2018 and will work with Eleven on a slate of projects for TV and global SVoD platforms with specific emphasis on increasing opportunities for female, black and ethnic minority talent.

Sex Education was recently renewed for a second run by Netflix, while Channel 4 has also greenlit another run of The End of the F***ing World from Clerkenwell Films. It will air in its entirety on the commercially funded UK pubcaster before becoming available to Netflix’s global subscription base.

With 45% of its drama output written by women and the same proportion directed by female talent, Eleven already has a strong focus on diversity. The company’s first drama, Jack Thorne-penned Cast Offs, was written by a team largely composed of disabled people.

Eleven was founded by Jamie Campbell and Joel Wilson.
