Brown Bag bags Court

Irish animation studio Brown Bag Films has appointed a former Decode Entertainment president and current co-owner of Peacock Alley Entertainment to its board of directors.

Neil Court, who has been advising the company on original programme development and production since November 2013, is also the former MD of Nelvana Enterprises and director of his international media consultancy company.

Court described Brown Bag as “the leading CGI animation studio in Europe,” while the Dublin-based company’s CEO, Cathal Gaffney, added the firm will “continue to invest in developing and producing original kids content for a global audience.”

Brown Bag is currently in production on new episodes of Peter Rabbit for Nickelodeon, Octonauts for CBeebies, as well as Doc McStuffins and Henry Hugglemonster for Disney Jr. It employs more than 160 full-time staff from offices in Dublin and LA.

Court is currently chairman and co-owner of Canadian scripted production and distribution outfit Peacock Alley.

In 1997, Court co-founded Toronto’s Decode, which became one of the largest international suppliers of children’s television series. It become DHX Media in 2006 and Court stayed on until 2009. He remained a non-executive board member for another two years.
