Bron strikes Rare deal with Beta prodcos

MIPCOM: North American Bron Studios has joined forces with Beta-owned prodcos Dramacorp and Isolani on a drama coproduction.

Ten-part sci-fi drama Rare is based on an original idea by Thierry Poiraud (Black Spot, Alone, Atomik Circus). It is being developed as a returning series and will be shot mainly in the English language.

The eco-focused series is set in the near future, with the world running out of oxygen and local authorities deciding on who gets to be cryogenically frozen in order to survive.

Executive producers for the series are Aaron L Gilbert, Steven Thibault and David Davoli (Fences, Leave No Trace, Tully) for Bron; Patrick Nebout (Midnight Sun, Hamilton, The Head) for Dramacorp; and Daniel J Cottin and Alexandre Richardot (Metal Hurlant Chronicles, Chef’s Table: France) for Isolani.

The copro sees Bron Studios push further into international television drama with European partners, following its recent partnership with CanalStudios-owned Tandem Productions on thriller Shadow Play, created and written by The Bridge co-creator Måns Mårlind.
