BritBox tracks down crime drama Taggart

Long-running Glasgow crime drama Taggart

BritBox, the joint-venture North American streaming service from BBC Studios and ITV, has acquired all 27 seasons of Scottish detective drama Taggart.

Produced by STV Productions for ITV, Taggart has now been sold into 150 territories, but the deal with BritBox marks the streamer’s first with UK distributor DCD Rights.

Taggart, which debuted in 1983, follows detectives tackling murder cases in and around the Scottish city of Glasgow.

BritBox president Soumya Sriraman said it was “an iconic series that has appealed to viewers across the world for decades” and would be a “brilliant addition to the BritBox crime-drama programming line-up.”

DCD Rights CEO Nicky Davies Williams said the show was “as engaging and relevant now as it ever has been.”

BritBox, which is currently available in the US and Canada, last week announced it had hit 500,000 subscribers, doubling its customer base in one year.
