BritBox preps ‘pastoral’ channel

The BritBox channel will carry food shows such as Mary Berry’s Country House Secrets

BritBox, the North American streamer from the BBC and ITV, is launching a home and garden channel featuring shows from the likes of Mary Berry and Bear Grylls.

The service, which is currently confined to the US and Canada but whose founders are working on a version for the UK and elsewhere, promises users a “practical and pastoral window into British living” with its new strand.

Food and cooking programmes such as Mary Berry’s Country House Secrets and Mary Berry’s Absolute Favourites will feature, alongside series like Gardeners’ World, Springwatch and Britain’s Biggest Adventures with Bear Grylls.

At present, BritBox, in which AMC Networks also holds a minority share, costs US$6.99 a month in the US and is available online, via Roku, Apple TV and all iOS and Android devices. A UK launch is being lined up for the second half of this year.
