Bright Bay teams with Puterman

Brandon Killian’s LA-based indie Bright Bay Creative has teamed up with former Mike Mathis Productions exec Brian Puterman.

Brian Puterman

The coproduction deal will see Puterman work with Bright Bay Creative to develop and produce unscripted and scripted content.

Bright Bay is behind FYI series Car Issues and works with talent in the sports and hip-hop arenas (Antonio Brown, Kirk Cousins, Fetty Wap, Iggy Azalea and B.o.B) on premium shortform, unscripted content.

Killion heads Bright Bay after founding the indie in 2016. The industry veteran started his career as a producer and showrunner working on shows for Nat Geo and A&E. He later took on exec production roles at Gurney Productions, Cineflix Media and Civilized Studios – the latter dedicated to cannabis.

“With Bright Bay experiencing a big growth moment, Brian’s proven track record of developing and producing sharp, targeted content for a varied range of buyers makes him a great asset,” he said.

Tony Nguyen

Puterman has been at Mike Mathis since 2003, most recently as senior VP of development and production. In that time he developed more than 50 shows across multiple genres, including I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant, D.U.I. and Take-Home Chef for TLC; Gator Boys for Animal Planet; Blood Relatives, Murder Among Friends and Extreme Measures for ID.

Along with the Puterman deal, Bright Bay has appointed Tony Nguyen as senior VP of development.

Nguyen previously worked at Complex Networks as executive producer on shows such as Droppin’ Cash, Mostly Football with Martellus Bennett, Rules To This Sh!t, Slobby’s World, That White People Sh!t and [email protected]

He has also held the role of VP and co-head of development at Screaming Flea Productions, where he developed projects for Discovery, Travel Channel, HGTV and DIY.
