Brazil welcomes Banijay’s Wife Swap

Wife Swap originated in the UK and has been remade in 27 countries

Brazilian broadcaster TV Record has commissioned a local version of Banijay Rights’ long-running format Wife Swap.

Teleimage is producing the first ever Brazilian version of the show, which will air on TV Record in February. The 11×80’ version will be known locally as Troca de Esposas and will follow the classic format where wives from two contrasting families swap places for a week.

The format is distributed by Banijay Rights and further adaptations are also in the works at Banijay-owned Screentime Australia, Banijay Studios North America and Banijay Finland.

An 8×90’ series will air on Australia’s Seven Network in 2019, a 10×60’ version is in the works with an unnamed US broadcaster, and in Finland, the new series will air on AVA (MTV3).

These latest deals follow the recent announcement that Wife Swap has been recommissioned for a third season by BTV in Bulgaria, and a fourth season for TFX (formerly NT1) in France.

Originally produced by RDF Television for the UK’s Channel 4, Wife Swap has now been adapted in 27 countries.
