Bravo hails Cash Cab reboot

Bravo’s new Cash Cab will feature higher stakes and airs later this year

US cablenet Bravo is reviving Emmy-winning gameshow Cash Cab, which previously aired on Discovery Channel in the US between 2005 and 2018.

The format, in which a taxi driver asks passengers questions for cash prizes, is again being produced by All3Media-owned prodco Lion Television.

Comedian Ben Bailey will return as host, having fronted Discovery’s own reboot of the show between 2017 and 2018. It originally aired on the factual-focused network between 2005 and 2012.

The announcement was made by Rachel Smith, senior VP of development at Bravo Media, and follows the network’s similar reboot of iconic dating series Blind Date.

The new Cash Cab will begin shooting this summer and premiere later this year. Bravo said the reboot would feature higher stakes, an upgraded car and questions more focused on pop culture.

Passengers who enter the New York taxi can win big money by answering enough questions correctly before their destination. Three wrong answers see them left on the street but they do have two lifelines, where they can ask social media or people on the street for help. A bonus round at the end offers them the chance to double their money or lose it all.
