Boomerang comes round to Happos

The Amazing World of Gumball

The Amazing World of Gumball

Turner-owned children’s channel Boomerang has created and produced its first original shortform series in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

The Happos Family (20×2′) will debut on Cartoon Network’s sibling channel around EMEA and Asia Pacific next month, joining series such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Grizzy & the Lemmings.

Italian chocolate manufacturer Ferrero produced the series alongside UK animation company Spider Eye.

The slapstick comedy follows a family of hippo-like creatures who live in an enclosure in a European safari park and get up to madcap adventures once the gates are shut to visitors.

Other original series heading for Boomerang in the future include Wabbit and Bunnicula, both of which are produced by Turner’s sister company Warner Bros Animation.

Turner also recently commissioned a sixth season of the EMEA-created series The Amazing World of Gumball for Cartoon Network.

In related news, Turner Asia Pacific has agreed a deal with Trans Media Corpora in Indonesia for the latter to air a Cartoon Network branded block on its free-to-air television station Trans TV.

The weekend block kicks off on September 17 and will feature original series such as Adventure Time, We Bare Bears, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10 dubbed in the local language.
