Aimed at 4-14s, Boing Africa will launch on the continent on May 30, following agreements with Nigerian pay TV platform Montage and Mobile TV in South Africa.

Turner says it is also set to announce deals that will see the channel carried by satellite, DTT, IPTV and mobile providers in territories such as Kenya, Ghana, Zambia and Tanzania.

Other series included in what it calls its “gender-neutral” schedule are Code Name: Kids Next Door and Dragons: Riders of Berk, as well as episodes from popular franchises such as Batman and Thundercats.

The channel joins other kid-skewing Turner nets Cartoon Network and the recently relaunched Boomerang in Africa.

TBS Africa has operated versions of TBS brands including CNN International and TCM for more than 10 years.

It also runs local TV channels as well as internet-based services, and is a commercial partner of various African third parties broadcasting in 50 countries on the continent.
