Blue Ant visits Street Vet

MIPTV: Canadian producer, distributor and channel operator Blue Ant Media has picked up a factual entertainment series in an exclusive multi-window licensing deal with Australian pubcaster ABC’s sales arm, ABC Commercial.

The Street Vet (12×30’) will launch on Blue Ant Media’s Cottage Life specialty pay cable channel in April, as part of an agreement covering Canadian pay TV, VoD and catch-up rights over the next four years.

The series follows the humanitarian endeavours of vet Kwane Stewart, who gives up his weekends to treat pets belonging to homeless people, and was filmed in cities across California, including Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco.

The series, billed as one of Mipcom’s hottest new factual properties last year, is coproduced by Australia’s Blizzard Road Productions and Vizion House Productions, and exec produced by Ray Pedretti.

Blue Ant Media’s director of acquisitions Andrea Harrick said the series offered “compassion and hope to the vulnerable and their beloved pets,” and called Dr Kwane “a standout talent.”
