Blue Ant unveils lifestyle nets’ line-up

APTN adventure series Merchants of the Wild

Toronto-based prodco, distributor and channel operator Blue Ant Media has announced a number of  projects set to air on its lifestyle channels Cottage Life, T+E, Love Nature and Smithsonian Channel Canada.

Blue Ant has three premieres scheduled for spring 2022 on Cottage Life, two of which are coproductions with Canadian indigenous TV network APTN.

Dr Savannah: Wild Rose (9×30’) features Dr Savannah Howse-Smith as she explores her indigenous heritage while working as a veterinarian. The series is produced by Wapanatahk Media in partnership with Great Pacific Media.

The second copro is the third season of adventure show Merchants of the Wild, S1-2 of which has been acquired by Blue Ant from APTN for Cottage Life. Little Bear Big Wolf Pictures and Buck Productions will produce S3.

The channel will also air 10-part series Mysteries From Above, from Blue Ant-owned Saloon Media, which showcases extraordinary events captured by drones.

Paranormal channel T+E has added two shows to its line-up. This autumn will see the premiere of Bathsheba (2×60’), from Cream Productions, which explores the real-life story behind horror film The Conjuring. Blue Ant has also greenlit eight-part docuseries Eyewitness: UFO, produced by Saloon Media, which will air this summer.

Natural history network Love Nature has announced 12-part docuseries Battle of the Alphas (12×30’) for its world broadcast premiere early next year. The series looks at competition in the animal kingdom and is produced by Yap Films (How It Feels To Be Free).

The channel recently promoted Alison Barrat to senior VP of development and production.

Finally, Smithsonian Channel Canada has announced documentary special Treasures from the Maya (1×60’), a Zoot Pictures production. The doc, which explores the downfall of the Mayan civilisation in Mexico, will make its Canadian broadcast debut in spring 2022.
