Blue Ant unveils global networks arm

Canadian producer, distributor and channel operator Blue Ant Media has launched a global networks division to support its international expansion and appointed a CEO of global networks and kids.

Ward Platt

In the newly created role, Ward Platt will be responsible for leading and growing ZooMoo, a joint venture with AT&T; Love Nature 4K, a joint venture with Smithsonian Networks; and recently acquired RTL CBS Entertainment and RTL CBS Extreme.

ZooMoo and Love Nature 4K produce and own their content through working with Blue Ant Media’s in-house production companies and leading third-party production partners. ZooMoo was acquired as part of the deal to buy David Haslingden’s Racat Group in May.

The management team from recently acquired RTL CBS Asia business will oversee the global networks business in Asia, reporting to Platt, and small global networks teams have been established in EMEA and Latin America to do the same.

Platt has joined Blue Ant Media’s corporate management team and reports to Raja Khanna, CEO of TV and digital for Blue Ant.

Platt’s previous leadership roles include chief operating officer positions at National Geographic Partners and Fox International Channels and CEO of National Geographic Channels International from 2013 to 2015.

Blue Ant Media made the announcement at Content Asia Summit, where Platt will appear on the closing keynote panel today. He will also represent Blue Ant Media at Mipcom 2017.
