Head of future skills and events, BBC Academy

Bhangoo looks after the content production skills needs of 200,000 BBC employees, along with future digital skills, major pan-BBC strategic projects and external partnerships with Creative Skillset, the National Film and Television School and other training providers. Prior to joining the BBC Academy, he forged a successful career in international production, working as an executive producer for BBC Factual, CBBC and BBC Worldwide. As senior vice-president and head of programmes for Sony Pictures in Mumbai, he commissioned and adapted several global entertainment formats, including Dancing With The Stars and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

BBC Academy

Established in April 2009, the BBC Academy brings together all the BBC's training and development across four areas – Production, Journalism Leadership and Technology. The Academy focuses on providing high-quality training to all BBC staff and building external relationships to extend the BBC's training offer to the wider industry. The Production area focuses on core editorial, creativity, and production skills, together with production management. Journalism training and development focuses on editorial standards and legal training and core journalist craft skills as well as leading on international training. The Technology training offer ranges from media-specific courses, like those on UHD, Spatial audio, IP Broadcasting, and Software engineering. The Leadership area focuses on building leadership and personal effectiveness skills across the corporation; it also takes the lead in the development of business and professional skills.
