Big Brother’s Euro resurgence continues

A reboot of Big Brother aired on Poland’s TVN in March

MIPCOM: Endemol Shine Group’s classic reality format Big Brother is continuing a wave of recommissions around Europe in its 20th year with a deal in Greece.

The show has not aired in the country for a decade but will return on commercial network Skai in 2020. It is the format’s fifth comeback announced already this year.

In Greece, the show previously aired on ANT1 from 2001 to 2005 and then Alpha TV in 2010 and 2011.

The announcement was made here in Cannes at a cocktail event to celebrate 20 years of the format and follows the recent news that it will be returning to Swedish screens after a five-year break. Endemol Shine’s Swedish prodco Meter is set to produce a new run for TV4.

The format has already successfully returned to Poland and Finland this year, with both series being filmed in existing locations using new technology. In Germany, the regular version will be brought back in 2020 following several celebrity editions and a five-year break.
