Beyond Rights hires Fox alum Hodson

UK-based distributor Beyond Rights has appointed a head of partnerships and business development to its executive team.

Connie Hodson

Connie Hodson will join Beyond next week in the newly created role, in which she will be tasked with driving business growth by developing producer and other strategic partnerships and finding new ways to acquire and maximise IP.

As part of her remit, Hodson will also assume full responsibility for the acquisitions and coproductions team, previously managed by former head of acquisitions Jimmy Humphrey, as well as for marketing.

Hodson previously held the role of VP of global content for Fox Networks Group Content Distribution, managing incoming scripted and unscripted content from global commissioning teams and producers within the National Geographic and Fox channels’ international networks.

Prior to her five years with Fox, she was commercial director at Sky Vision for nearly two years. Before that, she spent 10 years as chief commercial officer at Parthenon, growing the company’s library, managing department heads and developing commercial opportunities.

Hodson started her international TV career at HIT Entertainment, where she rose to become head of legal and business affairs of HIT Wildlife.

Her appointment comes after Beyond Rights last month settled its top team, following its merger with TCB Media Rights.

In related news, global pay TV company SPI International has signed a deal with Beyond Rights for worldwide TV and VoD rights of seven documentaries from the distributor’s catalogue.

The documentaries include travel series Beyond Siberia (2×60’) and follow-up Beyond Sahara (2×60’), current affairs series Inside Story (9×60’), cop doc Police Stop (10×30’), pet shows Pets, Vets & Debts (1×60’) and Wild & Dangerous (1×60’) and investigation series Cause of Death: Unknown (5×30’).
