Damian Pitman, currently head of development at Optomen, will take up the same role at Betty, working with joint MD Neil Smith to secure new business and expand the company’s features and factual slate.

His recent credits include primetime series The Miracle for ITV and Employ Me for BBC2.

Pitman previously worked at Blast! Films, where he developed the Web of Lies format for Discovery’s Investigation Discovery, and RDF where he created Storage: Locked & Loaded for Channel 5.

Smith said: “We’ve strongly invested in our traditional features, fact ent and doc formats along with our newer male-skewing adventure content, and Damian traverses them beautifully.”

Pitman added: “I’ve worked through the various genres in development and Betty has such a broad slate of programming, from adventure through to consumer shows and features, which really appealed to me.”
