BET adds to Twenties

Twenties S1 has also been picked up by Showtime

ViacomCBS-owned US cablenet BET has renewed single-camera comedy series Twenties for a second season.

Created and written by Emmy winner Lena Waithe (Master of None), the show follows a queer black girl chasing her dream of being a screenwriter in Los Angeles alongside her two best friends.

Fellow US cablenet Showtime has picked up the first season of the show to air from July 6.

Twenties is exec produced by Waithe, Rishi Rajani and Andrew Coles, alongside showrunner Susan Fales-Hill and Justin Tipping, who also directed the pilot episode.

Waithe said: “It took a long time to get this show on the air but it was absolutely worth the wait. I needed this phenomenal cast and crew to make it happen. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with this amazing group of people and our incredible viewers.”
