Bear Grylls, David Walliams on ITV Mission

Former SAS soldier Bear Grylls has fronted several survival series

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a one-off factual show that will see survivalist Bear Grylls taking on the wild with comedian, actor and author David Walliams.

Bear’s Mission with David Walliams has been commissioned as a 1×60’ special by ITV and will be produced by All3Media-owned UK prodco Betty, US production outfit Electus and Bear Grylls Ventures.

Walliams, who judges others on their performances in fellow ITV show Britain’s Got Talent, will himself be put under pressure on an adrenaline-fuelled mission testing his mental and physical limits in one of the UK’s most spectacular landscapes.

The Little Britain star has previously completed extreme endurance events, swimming across the English Channel and down the full length of the River Thames.

The show was commissioned by Amanda Stavri, commissioning editor for factual entertainment, and will be distributed internationally by Electus International. Executive produced by David Harrison, it continues the Mission brand following on from two seasons of Bear Grylls: Mission Survive for ITV.
