Beano brings in CBBC animation veteran

Beano Studios in the UK has appointed the CBBC’s executive producer of animation to the newly created role of head of animation.

Tim Searle

UK animation veteran Tim Searle has joined the production arm of long-running British children’s comic The Beano after just under two years with the BBC’s kids’ channel.

Searle’s role at the UK pubcaster also saw him executive produce the animated comedy Danger Mouse.

The exec has worked in animation for more than 25 years. He joined CBBC in late 2016 from Tiger Aspect Productions, having also been a co-founder of Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow Animation.

At Beano, Searle will creatively direct and develop all of the studio’s animated content, which includes CBBC series Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed.

The show has been picked up internationally in deals with broadcasters such as France Télévisions, SVT in Sweden and ABC Kids in Australia.

“I’ve always loved Beano Studios characters and the ethos of encouraging ‘everyday rebellion’ really resonates with me. I’m delighted to be working with the excellent team who share the same passion to create well written character comedy,” said Searle.

Beano Studios was set up in 2016 to create, curate and deliver a range of entertainment for kids based on Beano IP.
