BBCWW, Fremantle partner in Benelux

FremantleMedia produces NPO1’s version of Bake Off, Heel Holland Bakt

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) has partnered with FremantleMedia to sell its general entertainment and non-scripted formats into the Netherlands and Belgium.

The multi-year production deal grants FremantleMedia the rights to produce non-scripted formats from BBCWW’s entertainment catalogue in the Benelux region.

The partnership includes current library and future non-scripted formats but will not affect any format deals BBCWW currently has in place.

FremantleMedia Netherlands & Belgium currently produces BBCWW’s Great Bake Off in the Netherlands for NPO1 and will be producing Dancing with the Stars when the show returns to Belgium after a six-year hiatus, making its new home on SBS.

Jacob de Boer, global commercial director, formats production at BBCWW, said BBCWW titles such as The Generation Game and In Your Ear will be offered to Benelux audiences.

BBCWW recently hosted Showcase, its annual sales event in the UK city of Liverpool, attracting more than 700 international buyers looking for programming and formats in all genres.

The company revealed plans to merge its operations with commercial production arm BBC Studios in November, bringing the UK pubcaster’s programme production, sales and distribution together under one roof.
