BBCS’s MotherFatherSon goes global

Richard Gere and Helen McCrory star in MotherFatherSon

Networks and OTT services around the world have picked up MotherFatherSon, the drama produced for the UK’s BBC starring Richard Gere.

The BBC Studios-produced show has been acquired by HBO in Central and Eastern Europe, TVNZ in New Zealand, RTP2 in Portugal, RUV in Iceland, Catchplay in Taiwan, Zee Cafe in India and Russia’s Amedia.

It will also air on BBC First in Australia, as revealed earlier this month, and on the BBCS-owned network in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and South Africa.

Pretty Woman actor Gere returns to TV for the first time in 30 years in the show, which debuted on BBC2 earlier this month.

The 8×60’ political and psychological thriller is from author and screenwriter Tom Rob Smith (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, London Spy) and explores how a mighty media empire is threatened when its family owners turn on each other.

Peaky Blinders’ Helen McCrory and Billy Howle (On Chesil Beach) also star, with BBCS selling internationally.
