BBC’s War and Peace goes global

ETV in Estonia, Greece’s OTE and YES in Israel are among the latest international networks to have picked up BBC drama epic War and Peace.

The six-part adaption of Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel is being produced by BBC Wales Drama in partnership with The Weinstein Company, Lookout Point and the pubcaster’s commercial arm BBC Worldwide (BBCWW), which is distributing.

Lithuania’s LNK and BBC First in Australia and Benelux will also air the show, which has already been acquired by SVT in Sweden, TV2 in Denmark and the flagship channels of A+E Networks – Lifetime, A&E, and History – in the US.

In related news, YES has also picked up Dickensian, from Red Planet Pictures, along with BBC First in South Africa and Benelux.

BBCWW’s Mipcom drama slate also includes crime duo From Darkness and The Coroner, as well as Drama Republic’s Doctor Foster.
