BBC4 has commissioned a three-part series fronted by former Top Gear presenter James May.

May, who left the motoring show following co-presenter Jeremy Clarkson’s ’fracas’ with a producer last year, will front James May: The Reassembler (3×30’), made by Plum Pictures.

The show will see May enter a workshop and reassemble objects from scratch, such as a lawnmower or electric guitar.

The Reassembler was commissioned by Tom McDonald, BBC head of commissioning, natural history and specialist factual formats and Lucinda Axelsson, BBC commissioning executive, specialist factual formats.

May, Clarkson and fellow former Top Gear host Richard Hammond signed a lucrative deal with streamer Amazon to produce a new motoring show which is due for launch later this year.
