BBC3 orders Manchester bombing doc

UK online-only network BBC3 has commissioned a documentary following survivor stories of a terrorist attack that took place in Manchester last year.

Manchester Bomb: The Girls’ Story (working title) was commissioned by Clare Sillery, head of commissioning for documentaries, and Danny Horan, commissioner for BBC Documentaries, and will stream via BBC3 around the first anniversary of the attack in May.

Manchester-based production company Blakeway North will make the programme with executive producers Sarah Murch and Fran Baker onboard. Lizzie Kempton is the director.

The documentary offers accounts from some of the survivors of the incident, which took place at an Ariana Grande pop concert.

The Manchester attack saw 23 people killed including the attacker and was the worst act of terror in the UK since the Tube bombings that took place in London in July of 2005.
