BBC3 doc examines body image

Jesy Nelson: My Story looks at the impact social media has had on young people

BBC3 in the UK has commissioned a documentary exploring body image and mental health, fronted by Little Mix member Jesy Nelson.

UK indie October Films is working on the one-off doc for the youth-skewing, online-only part of the UK pubcaster’s operation.

Jesy Nelson: My Story (working title) will see the girl band member look at how growing up in a social media-fuelled age of selfies, body shaming and trolling is having a profound impact on the mental health of young people.

Having lived in the spotlight and under the intense scrutiny of the media for the past seven years, Nelson will share her personal experiences and talk to young people who have been affected.

The 60-minute doc will premiere exclusively on BBC3 before it airs on BBC1, which recently announced it was opening up a late-night slot in its schedules for youth-skewing shows from its sister net.
