BBC2 traps Tiger, Cave Bear comedy

BBC2 has commissioned a comedy pilot from Benidorm producer Tiger Aspect and fellow Endemol Shine Group prodco Cave Bear.

The Other One is being written by British comedian Holly Walsh, whose credits include Sky Arts’ Psychobitches and BBC2’s Motherland.

Shane Allen, controller of BBC comedy commissioning, has greenlit the narrative comedy pilot, which will be directed by Bafta-winning Dan Zeff.

Cave Bear was launched by Tiger Aspect’s joint MD Ben Cavey in February 2015. The company’s head of comedy, Pippa Brown, previously worked alongside Walsh producing and writing material for Psychobitches.

Downton Abbey actor Siobhan Finneran and Bafta-winner Rebecca Front are among those starring in the pilot.

Filmed in Manchester, the 30-minute sitcom focuses on the comedic differences between long-lost sisters, both named Catherine Walcott, who were unaware of each other’s existence before their father’s death.
