BBC2 to identify Icons

BBC2 in the UK is launching a show that will attempt to find the greatest person of the 20th century, with viewers invited to vote for the individual of their choice.

Icons, a coproduction with UK educational organisation The Open University, is described as “the most ambitious BBC history series in over a decade.”

The 8×60′ show, which was first unveiled in 2017, includes a live final and will tell the story of the century through the people who had the most impact on it.

A shortlist of icons is being drawn up from different categories such as leaders, explorers and entertainers.

Each episode will see the show delve into the history of the icons, with their impact debated.
