BBC2 takes up gardening spin-off

The BBC’s Your Home Made Perfect uses VR to demonstrate home improvements

UK broadcaster BBC2 has commissioned a garden-themed spin-off series to home improvement show Your Home Made Perfect and a follow-up series to pet programme 10 Puppies & Us.

From Remarkable Television, part of Endemol Shine UK, Your Garden Made Perfect pits designers against each other as they transform people’s outdoor spaces. Using VR technology, the designers produce their vision of how neglected spaces could be reimagined and the owners must then decide which design to turn into reality.

The 6×60′ series is produced by the team behind BBC2’s Your Home Made Perfect, with Joff Wilson exec producing for Remarkable TV.

Kitty Walshe, joint MD of Remarkable TV, said: “With the nation having been on lockdown, gardens have never played such an important role. They’ve allowed us to step outside and escape from being confined inside. Your Garden Made Perfect will transform how people use outdoor space, showcasing breathtaking designs that will allow us to all discover the hidden potential that lies just beyond our back door.”

Meanwhile, 12 Puppies & Us: The Next Chapter will follow 12 families across the UK who have just become puppy owners as they navigate their first few months together and will also revisit some of the dogs featured in 10 Puppies & Us, which aired on BBC2 in 2018, to find out how the different breeds have developed over the past two years.

The 6×60′ series comes from Banijay Group’s RDF, with Dan Barraclough exec producing.

Barraclough said: “The recent lockdown has seen a surge in interest from people wanting to take on a puppy, and from a really diverse range of families and backgrounds. From tiny dogs like the Chinese Crested Powderpuff to Great Danes, people are looking into some very different breeds, so it will be intriguing to see how each family deals with the challenges of their particular pup.”
