BBC2 sets its sights on Travelling Blind

Sara Pascoe and Amar Latif in Travelling Blind

BBC2 in the UK has commissioned a one-off documentary that will see blind adventurer Amar Latif travel across Turkey with comedian Sara Pascoe.

Travelling Blind is being produced by London-based indie Spun Gold TV for the UK pubcaster and will see Pascoe act as Latif’s sighted guide as they explore the country’s cities, mountains and landscapes.

The 1×60’ show, due to air later this year, will focus on how Latif went blind in childhood and how spending time describing what’s going on around them changes Pascoe’s perception of the world.

The executive producer is Bridget Boseley. It was commissioned by Patrick Holland, BBC2’s controller, and Clare Sillery, head of commissioning for documentaries.

It follows news earlier this week that Spun Gold is working on an obs doc in The Shankly Hotel in Liverpool for BBC1.
