BBC2 mines more White Gold

L-R: James Buckley, Ed Westwick and Joe Thomas in White Gold

BBC2 has ordered a second run of comedy series White Gold ahead of the first season’s finale on linear TV tonight.

The show is from UK-based Fudge Park Productions, whose co-founder Damon Beesley wrote and directed it.

The second 6×30′ series is again set in Essex during the 1980s and stars Ed Westwick, Joe Thomas and James Buckley as double-glazing salesmen.

The first season has been available in its entirety via the BBC’s on-demand platform iPlayer since the show premiered on BBC2 in May. It has since become the VoD service’s second best-rated comedy of the year, with five million hits.

White Gold was part of a new-look slate for BBC2 from Patrick Holland, who was appointed controller for the channel in September. The comedy is sold globally by BBC Worldwide.
