BBC2 bags Backshall for Challenge

BBC2 in the UK has ordered a two-part series exploring one of the most inaccessible parts of South America.

Steve Backshall’s Extreme Mountain Challenge (working title) follows the adventurer and naturalist as he explores sheer-sided mountains in Venezuela’s Canaima National Park.

Jonathan Renouf is exec producing with Ben Lawrie attached as producer and director.

Adam Barker, acting channel editor for BBC2, said: “BBC2 is always looking for new ways to expand our audience’s horizons, whether through our foreign affairs coverage or through adventurous travel content such as this series, and I’m therefore delighted that Steve Backshall is coming to the channel to take on one of his toughest challenges yet.”
