BBC2, Arte spotlight Trump foreign policy

BBC2 in the UK and Arte in France have commissioned a three-part factual series about US president Donald Trump’s foreign policy.

Donald Trump

Trump on the World Stage (working title) is a coproduction between Zinc Media-owned Brook Lapping in London and Paris-based Les Films D’ici.

The 3×60’ series tells the inside story of how Trump has turned American foreign policy, conducted in the same way for generations, on its head, sparking outrage at home and abroad.

Only those who were in the room when the key decisions were taken will tell the story. This approach is echoed in Brook Lapping’s portfolio of docs examining modern history, including Cuba: Castro vs the World (BBC/Arte); Inside Europe: 10 Years of Turmoil (BBC2), the winner of the 2019 Wincott Awards for excellence in financial, economic and business journalism; Inside Obama’s White House (BBC2); and Avenging Terror (Channel 4).

Trump on the World Stage has been pre-sold to SVT in Sweden, DR in Denmark, Norway’s NRK, VPRO in the Netherlands, VRT in Flemish Belgium and Finland’s YLE.

The series will be distributed by BBC Studios, with delivery in time for America’s next presidential Inauguration in January 2021.
