BBC1 to dish up Daily Kitchen Live

UK pubcaster BBC1 has ordered a new live cooking series for viewers under coronavirus lockdown called Daily Kitchen Live from local indie Cactus TV.

Matt Tebbutt

The 10×45’ series will air every weekday morning and will respond to the challenges caused by the pandemic, such as cooking on a budget and making the most of the limited supplies available at many supermarkets.

The series will be hosted by chef Matt Tebbutt and journalist and author Jack Monroe. Each episode will see the duo dish up healthy, wholesome and accessible meals using ingredients we know are available in the shops. Viewers will be able to pose questions and also offer their own advice.

Daily Kitchen Live will debut on Monday April 13 and is produced by Cactus TV, the prodco behind BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen Live, with Amanda Ross serving as exec producer.

To protect staff and presenters, the production will ensure strict social distancing rules are complied with, both on- and off-screen.

Carla-Maria Lawson, head of BBC daytime and early peak, said: “Through Daily Kitchen Live, viewers will be able to tool themselves up with the knowledge they need to adapt to the challenges of isolation. Our talented experts will not only be dishing up healthy and achievable meal options but will be calming and cheering company when we need it most.”
