BBC1 bids for German format

The original German version of Bares für Rares (Cash for Trash)

UK broadcaster BBC1 has commissioned a daytime series from Warners Bros-owned prodco Ricochet, based on German pubcaster ZDF’s Cash for Trash.

Set in an emporium deep in the Yorkshire countryside, The Bidding Room sees a group of expert dealers attempt to outbid each other for items brought in by the public.

The programme is an adaptation of Bares für Rares (Cash for Trash), which was originally created by ZDF and produced by WBITVP Germany. WBITVP also produces the show in France, under the title Affaire Conclue, while a third adaptation recently launched in the Netherlands on SBS.

The Bidding Room (30×45′) will be presented by actor and TV personality Nigel Havers in the UK and exec produced by Emma Walsh.
